Künstlerhaus Andreasstadel, House of Arts
You can additionally rent rooms for your purposes at Andreasstadel, House of Arts. This is situated not inside the hotel but directly at the Danube, close to the Steinernen Brücke (stone bridge). A building full of history This unique, secular house was erected in 1634 as kind of tax saving model of the Middle Ages. The Bavarian dukes built it in order to evade taxes on the salt trade levied by the free imperial town of Regensburg. In doing this, they demonstrated the power of the Bavarian nobility at that time.
The silhouette of this quarter in Regensburg is crowned with the character of this building, its three-nave and two story wood construction, and a high three story loft.
Up until the beginning of the 19th century the building was used for storing salt.
Later it was sold and parts of it were for public use, which you can see on the inscription, "Feuerrequisiten-Lokal".
We want to maintain this public interest in Andreasstadel and share the fascination for art with you.
